Here a Moth, There a Moth (and maybe a bat or owl, too)
We all know that bees pollinate flowers, but did you know that many moths visit flowers, too – and that there are nearly 5,000 species statewide? Join us for a sure-to-be fun 2024 Texas Pollinator Bioblitz mothing event! We’ll begin around the campfire with s’mores, then venture down to Cibolo Creek to discover what moths are being attracted to blacklights with special guest Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Biologist Craig Hensley.
You’ll come to appreciate the diversity of night flying insects that pollinate and provide food for bats and other predators. We’ll even listen for bats and call for Barred Owls! Before our amazing Mothing Walk, we’ll have a s’mores bar to ensure we’re all energized for our journey!
Location: Meet at the Cibolo Nature Center Pavilion – 140 City Park Rd, Boerne, Texas 78006
We will walk down together to the firepit near the Herff House for s’mores and then on to the Cibolo Creek for our Moth Walk.
Price: $10/person or $30/family. Get your tickets here!
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: Participants are welcome to stay until 10:30 PM with guides Craig and Noah. Noah will guide participants back to their vehicles at the Cibolo Nature Center parking lot before 10:30 PM, as desired!
