The Comal Master Gardener Association (CMG) provides educational opportunities for Comal County residents and its members.

CMG sponsors a Gardening Series at various public libraries in Comal County: Tye Preston in Canyon Lake, Mammen Family in Bulverde, the New Braunfels Library and its branch at Westside Community Center in New Braunfels, and the Garden Ridge Library. Topics by Comal Master Gardner speakers vary, but have included butterfly gardening, medicinal plants and herbs, propagation, wildlife gardening, and drip irrigation.  Check out each library’s calendar for information on future programs that occur January-May and September-November.  For more information, click HERE.

CMG also maintains a Speaker’s Bureau to respond to requests for speakers from county gardening clubs, symposiums, etc.  Click HERE for more information about available topics that can be presented.

For CMG members, each monthly meeting has a presentation designed to help home gardeners better understand what influences gardening and landscaping success, and how to apply those lessons to their own gardening endeavors.  The public is welcome to attend these meetings.  More information is available HERE.

In addition to presentations at monthly meetings, Comal Master Gardeners are required to earn continuing education (CE) hours each year to maintain membership in the association. These hours expand their knowledge of horticulture and help to promote conservation of nature and the environment.
