Natives That Love Our Soil and Weather in Comal County

March 23 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Want to know about plants that will grow in black gumbo clay in the New Braunfels city limits, or what will grow in virtually no soil out toward Canyon Lake? Come to Headwaters at the Comal to learn about some native plants that can do that and like where they are.

Deedy Wright is a life-long Texas gardener. Her particular interests are native and invasive plants. She has been an active member of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) since 1996. She has completed multiple native plant courses at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center and landscape training at Texas A&M University, along with the Texas Invaders training on invasive plants.

In addition, Deedy was a certified Texas Master Gardener for 15 years in Bexar and Guadalupe Counties, with specialist training in propagation and vegetable gardening.

A retired secondary language arts and social studies teacher, Deedy has taught adult continuing education classes on various gardening topics in the San Antonio area.
