Transitioning to Native Turf: Restoring Our Connection, Saving Water–Rainbow Garden

April 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Come to Rainbow Gardens to join Michelle Gorham of Native American Seed as she presents Transitioning to Native Turf: Restoring Our Connection, Saving Water.

If you lost the battle for the perfect American lawn in the hot dry summer of 2023 but still desire that patch of green in which to walk barefoot, have picnics, toss the ball around and impress your neighbors, then native turf is for you. Michelle will discuss the benefits of replacing thirsty, expensive, time-consuming lawns with hardy, drought-tolerant, incredibly beautiful, pollinator and habitat friendly native short grass turf. From invasive weed species removal techniques, to soil preparation, seed dispersal, and installation, maintenance, and more.

Please note: Native turf will NOT grow in deep shade; Native turf will only grow in an area that receives full sun most of the day.
