Comal Master Gardener Association Policy on Personal Privacy
It is Comal Master Gardener Association policy that all members are entitled to protection of their private data from the general public. This includes address, telephone number, email address, name, and their likeness linked to their name. Consequently,
Member’s personal address, telephone number, and email address will not be included in ComalMG.org or the Newsletter. Organizational email addresses ending in @comalmg.com may be used.
Members may opt out of having their name used in the media by sending an email request to privacy@comalmg.com. The request should specifically state which media they do not wish their name in–ComalMG.org, the Newsletter, or both.
The committees/groups who publish ComalMG.org and the Newsletter are responsible for maintaining a list of members who opt not to have their name used in their media.
Photographs used in these media require cooperation between the photographer and the subject(s). It is the individual’s responsibility to remove themselves from staged or posed photographs if they do not wish to be photographed or have their name linked to their face. Remaining in a posed photo implies consent to have a photo taken and for the possibility that names will be linked to faces in the caption. When shooting random, ‘candid’ photographs, the photographer should strive to include multiple faces and photo subjects should be given the opportunity to avoid being included in the picture when possible. Names will not be associated with individuals in these photos.
Photographs of children require special attention. CMG will not link photos and names of children who appear to be younger than 16 nor will we publish pictures of a single individual under 16 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
