CMG’s Youth Education Program supports 38 programs in school and community settings, providing training and curriculum. Comal Master Gardeners share horticultural knowledge and expertise working in the garden and provide information and support in the classroom with the Junior Master Gardener curriculum.
Comal ISD has 21 schools with school garden programs, New Braunfels ISD has ten, and community settings throughout the county include five additional sites. The program is overseen by a School Gardens Committee that meets quarterly to help plan and implement school garden programs and to provide training. This committee is composed of Comal Master Gardeners working with youth, Extension Office Health and Youth Development County Agents, community representatives, administrators, parents and teachers.
