Comal Master Gardeners Association (CMG) is a non-profit, educational, and charitable 501(C)3 association working in collaboration with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Our purpose is to support and expand the capabilities of AgriLife Extension Service by providing education on the best practices of horticulture and environmental stewardship with a focus on youth and community service.
The Comal Master Gardeners Association is proud to offer scholarships to Comal County residents that are pursuing a career in horticulture or related fields. Applicants must be attending a 2 or 4 year college or university.
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduating high school seniors who attend a high school located in Comal County who have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (4.0 unweighted scale) planning to attend an accredited college or university.
Selection Criteria
- Education (GPA, SAT, etc) 20 pts
- Activities and Interest 15 pts
- Extracurricular Activities 15 pts
- Work Experience 10 pts
- Goals including horticulture background with essay 40 pts
Supplemental Requirements
- Essay: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages)
- Two letters of recommendation-one from a teacher and the other from someone who is not related to the applicant and is not a school official or Comal Master Gardener Board Member
- Official grade transcript

Up to $2,500 per recipient
Up to 5 recipients
