Water Conservation Team

Mission Statement – to promote and support the Comal County Water Team’s goals under the auspices of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for Comal County while similarly pursuing goals set by the Comal Master Gardener Association’s Water Conservation Team.

Goals:

  1. To reach as many Comal County residents as feasible with the water conservation message.
    1. Library Series
    2. Garden Clubs
    3. Church groups
    4. Lions/Rotary/other service clubs
    5. School groups
    6. Expanded website features
  2. Provide educational opportunities and tools to give county residents a way to participate.
    1. Demonstration Rain Harvesting talks
    2. Rain barrel construction & sales
    3. Demonstration Irrigation Efficiency talks – with focus on Memorial Weekend
    4. Demonstration Aquaculture site
    5. Demonstration Agrivoltaics site
    6. Outreach to schools and events with Water Trailer
    7. Installation of school demonstration features into Water Trailer
  3. Partner with other organizations for broader reach
      1. Builder associations
      2. Seamless gutter installers
      3. Nonprofits
        1. Hill Country Alliance
        2. Comal Conservation Alliance
        3. Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance
      4.  Government
        1. Comal County Commissioner’s Court
        2. Comal County Appraisal District
        3. Comal Trinity Groundwater Conservation District
  1. Report progress quarterly to the CMGA Executive Board.
