Auction Fundraiser

The annual Comal Master Gardener Fundraiser Auction is held in the fall as an event to support CMG’s community education programs.

Funds from the Auction support:

  • Youth education for New Braunfels ISD and Comal ISD students, which includes 28 schools with gardens
  • The AgriLife vegetable garden that teaches and demonstrates good vegetable gardening practices and results in over 6000 pounds annually of vegetables donated to area food banks
  • Speaker Outreach Programs for local garden clubs, libraries, schools, church groups and others

The Auction began in 2008 as a chili supper at a monthly general meeting. The funds were used to help defray expenses of sending Directors to the quarterly Texas Master Gardener meetings at Texas A&M in College Station and Specialty Training for CMG members. Initially, it was a member only auction  with self-sourced items that were no longer needed or used.

In 2017, the Auction committee secured a venue, solicited donations and opened the auction to the public, expanding community outreach.  Auction items are now sourced from the CMG membership, community members and area businesses. The CMG Auction has been successful thanks to our community, generous merchants throughout Comal County and all CMG members who work most of the year to make the Auction a success.
