Vacation Garden School (VGS) is a fun, fast-paced, three-day event for children ages 6–10. VGS inspires and educates children about gardening, environmental stewardship, and sustainability through interactive, hands-on learning experiences that foster a lifelong appreciation for nature.
Vacation Garden School 2026 will be held July 13–15, 2026, from 9:00–11:30 a.m. at Cross Lutheran Church and School at 2171 E Common St, New Braunfels, TX 78130

Youth Education
Comal Master Gardeners’ (CMG’s) Youth Education Program supports 38 school and community garden programs by providing training, curriculum, and ongoing support. Comal Master Gardeners share their horticultural knowledge and expertise through hands-on work in the garden and by supporting classroom instruction using the Junior Master Gardener curriculum.
Within Comal County, 21 Comal ISD schools and 10 New Braunfels ISD schools participate in school garden programs, along with 5 additional community sites across the county. The program is overseen by a School Gardens Committee, which meets quarterly to plan and implement garden programs and provide training. The committee includes Comal Master Gardeners working with youth, Extension Office Health and Youth Development County Agents, community representatives, school administrators, teachers and parents.
